😱 Ever get caught thinking about the worst case sc 😱 Ever get caught thinking about the worst case scenarios? It's a super common (but unhelpful) thinking habit and can make you feel even worse!

When you notice that you're focused on all the 'what ifs', and making mountains out of molehills, ask yourself this question 🤔:
"What's MOST LIKELY going to happen?"

Sometimes this is enough to shift our thinking to focus on what's really going on - instead of all the terrible ideas our brain can come up with!

Today is Canada Day, and this year it is a time of Today is Canada Day, and this year it is a time of both pride and despair, regret and celebration. We are acknowledging a dark history of our beloved country and doing so within an international pandemic where hope can feel hard to come by. No matter how you need to commemorate July 1st this year I invite you to hold space for each other. To recognize that this generation may not be responsible for what has happened within the Residential Schools of our past, but we have a new responsibility to never allow this to happen again. That you may not have caused the pain and trauma but you can be active today in validating the experience of those still suffering and pledge to stand with them in their journey forward. Be kind, be aware, be respectful, and as a nation, let us be better. 🍁🧡

Social workers are under a high risk for burn out on a regular basis due to poor funding, lack of support and pressure to be a Jack-of-all-trades in many of the roles we play. We carry the trauma of our clients while also being mindful of full caseloads, performance measures and legal restrictions to the way we provide our services. ..
We need to support one another but also know the limits of our own scopes and our boundaries, to remind ourselves that we cannot lose ourselves in this work! Prioritize your self care. Be brave in asking for what you need. Put your health and wellness on the list of things you need to do so you can continue to do this amazing job for the communities you serve! ..

I look at the date today with a mixture of shock a I look at the date today with a mixture of shock and gratitude and joy. Today marks the day I finally took the step to open my private practice. It feels surreal to recognize that a whole year has passed by since then, and I am flabbergasted by all the changes myself, and the collective world, have gone through. Transformation is hard. Change is frightening. But living authentically is worth it. Thank you to my friends, family and community for supporting this dream every step of the way!
