What I Offer
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access counseling?
Feel free to call me at 1 (519)-386-2578, or email at jrapley@mentalhealthmama.ca with questions. I also offer online booking, where you can cancel and schedule appointments at your leisure.
What happens during my consult?
When you arrive for your initial appointment, we will fill in consent forms and go over a formal agreement of our therapeutic relationship together including confidentiality, fees, and attendance. We will then go over your history, including any current medications, coping strategies and counseling you've had previously. From there, we work together to discuss your goals and develop a plan that best suits your needs!
How do I rebook?
We will structure our sessions around both our schedules and rebook together to make sure you can access counseling in a timely manner, and ensure you know exactly when your next follow up will be. If you need to reschedule, just call to let me know!
How do in-person appointments work?
Due to COVID-19, clients will be expected to sanitize their hands before entering, complete a screening, as well as wear a mask and maintain social distancing throughout their appointment.
What mental health issues do you treat?
I work very well with those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and self esteem as well as working with young mothers. I have training in a wide range of modalities as well such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Structured Relapse Prevention and more. Contact me and we can discuss whether I might be a good fit for you.
What payments do you accept?
I currently accept cash, cheque, eTranfer, credit and debit, and I encourage all clients to research their unique insurance providers to see if Registered Social Work support is covered. I can offer direct billing for those with Great West Life insurance.
How can I prepare for counseling?
Feel free to bring with you any notes, thoughts or goals you want to focus on during our work together. I encourage all clients to take time to consider what is important to them, and what they hope to get out of counseling. This is your journey, and I'm here to support you!
How do teletherapy appointments work?
You may choose to attend through telephone or video - video appointments are offered through a secure, password protected browser based program. All you need is a webcam and microphone!
