Trying to find those moments of beauty and 'bright Trying to find those moments of beauty and 'bright' during the dull winter blues? Even taking half a second to look up and spy that perfect moon in the evening sky can be enough of a reminder that there's gratitudes everywhere when you look for them. Not pictured: the absolutely bone chilling wind this view made me forget #mentalhealthmama #dailygratitude #daymoon #winterblues #takeamoment #mindfulmondays
Real talk. I tried to take a nice professional loo Real talk. I tried to take a nice professional looking selfie to show my awesome 'EAT SLEEP SOCIAL WORK REPEAT' shirt, but it was like a siren call for my children to basically photo bomb for all they were worth.
.
You can see my absolute cringe of anticipation, preparing to get a stray toy car jammed up my nostril or an elbow to the teeth as it became open season to crawl all over me just to get in front of that camera. 30 seconds prior, they were happily playing.
.
Kids have that sixth sense don't they?

Therapy isn't always about feeling better every time we leave a session. Sometimes we leave more confused and ruffled than when we went in! Change is super hard and painful at times because we are breaking habits, acknowledging avoidance and digging through some deeply engrained thoughts and feelings. .
But pain is a precursor for growth! Having the courage to do this work will be rewarded!

Note the burnt toast, that I found sometime MUCH l Note the burnt toast, that I found sometime MUCH later after starting one task and forgetting entirely that I had started to make myself something to eat. Note the second set of slices, cooking once I realized I had abandoned my snack from 2 hours previous and was attempting to eat again.
.
This is the life of the easily distracted, the constantly multitasking, the mentally divided. Can you relate to that sort of day? Starting one task and then getting side tracked and forgetting entirely where you started?
.
Somedays I feel like I have 30 tabs open in my internet browser and my brain! 🧠
.
Human beings are awful at multitasking and yet we strive for that all the time.
.
Reminder to do one thing at a time and take care of your own needs. You'll probably burn less toast that way 🤦‍♀️🍞🔥 #mentalhealthmama #mentalhealth #easilydistracted #mindfulness #adhd #attentiondefecitdisorder #multitasking #multitaskingproblems
Come rain or snow, your social worker is out there Come rain or snow, your social worker is out there! Many social workers or helping professionals have 'mobile offices' like my rolling file box here. We work out in your community, bringing services to you no matter the weather. I've known many a counselor who could run their business pretty much from the trunk of their car based on all the extra resources, supplies and text books filling their trunks and back seats.
This is just one look at the daily life of a therapist and all the many roles we play.
What's your experience with working outside of a regular office? How do you manage to stay organized despite it all?

Sending thanks and so much gratitude to the brave Sending thanks and so much gratitude to the brave men and women on the front lines of this. Answer their questions. Thank them. Sometimes feels like you barely get a breath before the next wave of stress is taking you over. I haven't had the strength to clean, or tidy, or do any of the projects needed around the house and it's hard not to get down on yourself about it all.
..
One day at a time. Do what you can with what you have. Hoping this reaches whoever needs to see it today.

How I'm feeling today! .. Sometimes it's terrifyin How I'm feeling today!
..
Sometimes it's terrifying to make the jump, to push ourselves to leap when we are afraid of whether we will land, or fall. But fear is a paralytic and we can stay stuck in our 'comfort' zones. Because they are just that - comfortable!
..
Pain and fear can be a precursor for growth. We can learn so much about ourselves or go past our self imposed limits and for once be more than we think we can be. You'll never know unless you try! ..
Prove yourself wrong today. Try something new. Risk a little. Make some magic.
