Today is Canada Day, and this year it is a time of Today is Canada Day, and this year it is a time of both pride and despair, regret and celebration. We are acknowledging a dark history of our beloved country and doing so within an international pandemic where hope can feel hard to come by. No matter how you need to commemorate July 1st this year I invite you to hold space for each other. To recognize that this generation may not be responsible for what has happened within the Residential Schools of our past, but we have a new responsibility to never allow this to happen again. That you may not have caused the pain and trauma but you can be active today in validating the experience of those still suffering and pledge to stand with them in their journey forward. Be kind, be aware, be respectful, and as a nation, let us be better. 🍁🧡

I look at the date today with a mixture of shock a I look at the date today with a mixture of shock and gratitude and joy. Today marks the day I finally took the step to open my private practice. It feels surreal to recognize that a whole year has passed by since then, and I am flabbergasted by all the changes myself, and the collective world, have gone through. Transformation is hard. Change is frightening. But living authentically is worth it. Thank you to my friends, family and community for supporting this dream every step of the way!

How do you talk to yourself when you have to leave How do you talk to yourself when you have to leave the kitchen a mess? Do you beat yourself up when you can't seem to stay ahead of the cleaning? Kindness is the best antidote during those frenzied mornings when your counter is a disaster zone and you feel the weight of all the things left undone. Take a deep breath. Remind yourself: you are more than the toys you left untidied or the cereal bowls still in the sink. Be kind to yourself Mama! We all have those days.

You might not see it, but behind this mask is the same smiling face of your compassionate therapist! This is the view you'll have when you attend for in-person sessions. With safety precautions in place, and screening at the door, I am happy to welcome my clients back into my office space with the following precautions:

😷 Wear a mask when entering the building and wear it throughout our appointment
📋 Complete a health-screening at the door following current PHGB regulations
👏 Use hand sanitizer at the front desk before entering the office
↔️ Maintaining 6-feet of distance during entirety of our visit

The office is thoroughly sanitized and cleaned between each appointment, and appointment times are staggered to ensure no clients are meeting in the waiting area.

Feeling so proud of our community and all that we are doing to keep each other safe! Stay positive and test negative friends!

Self care can be such a buzz word, synonymous with Self care can be such a buzz word, synonymous with bath bombs and face masks. But when we care for ourselves or others, it is sometime about doing the hard work - we don't always find the acts of caring easy or pleasant!
..
When your mother made you eat your vegetables, go to the dentist, clean your room, or teach you right from wrong, you didn't always enjoy it but you knew she was doing it out of caring. Setting goals for yourself and achieving them may take perseverance but you'll feel how much you are loved (by yourself!) when that hard work pays off!

Wearing a bracelet, charm, band or a watch can sometimes help! This is just a small collection of the jewelry I wear on a regular basis that helps calm those little nervous movements I get caught in, especially while waiting. A beaded bracelet like those shown can be spun, counted, or rubbed to keep your hands busy. Some even have lava stones for use with essential oils that can offer great benefit for aromatherapy!
.
Or even a bracelet with an encouraging message can be a reminder to catch yourself and make a change!
